Toyota corolla plans to make the Corolla a mid-generation version, with the latest version expected to arrive in Japan this October with minor improvements in cosmetics and technology.
The redesigned Corolla series will be compatible with the GR Corolla hatchback, which is also expected to launch later this year
The current Corolla (12th generation) was released in 2018, and while sales of Toyota’s compact model are looking solid, an upgrade would be best to keep up with demand. It is noteworthy that since the debut of the Corolla, its competitors such as VW Golf and Honda Civic have acquired new generation models
According to Crito Trend, the exterior of the facelifted Corolla will not be significantly altered, and the only changes will be new headlamps and rear lights, as well as a modified grille and a better color scheme
In addition to the Corolla hatchback, the Corolla Touring Sports will receive a similar treatment and the sedan will be designed differently according to the target market
Consumers nowadays want technology, and given that the majority of competitors in the compact market offer digital cockpits, it makes sense for Toyota to follow suit. The Corolla is currently available with a 4.2-inch and 7-inch instrument cluster display. Although the size will be increased to 12.3 inches, which is similar to the European Corolla Cross
The latter also includes a 10.5-inch infotainment touch screen that will complement the improved CPU featured in the small 8-inch touchscreen display of the European 2022 Toyota Corolla, which can now be updated over the air
As far as the power train is concerned, the Japanese media believe that the naturally desired 1.8-liter engine will be replaced by the 1.5-liter Yaris, while it will continue to be used in hybrid drive trains. Currently used turbocharged 1.2-liter petrol, 1.8-liter hybrid, and 2.0-liter hybrid engines will also be offered. Additionally, additional features may be introduced in the default Toyota Safety Sense Suite
As nothing has been officially or directly announced by the automaker, the Corolla is likely to be upgraded for 2023, given the recently redesigned Corolla Cross.
The Corolla is undoubtedly Toyota’s most successful car, with over 50 million sales in 12 generations between 1966 and 2021, making it a key model for the Japanese auto company
