Toyota has partnered with Yamaha to develop a high performance engine for its sports cars

Toyota has partnered with Yamaha to develop a high performance engine for its sports cars The new engine is based on the naturally aspiring 5.0-liter V8 unit used in the RCF coupé IS 500 sedan and LC 500 roadster.

The Japanese carmaker claims that the new power plant will be an internal combustion engine ( ICE ) that uses hydrogen fuel Yamaha highlights that the companies have been working on the engine for five years and will produce 450 horsepower (HP)

Yamaha President Yoshihiro Hikada said the company aims to achieve carbon neutrality by ( 2050 ) and that the new hydrogen combustion engine will be eco friendly and exciting at the same time
Interestingly Toyota is not alone in this pursuit , Other Japanese carmakers , including Mazda and Subaru , are also looking for environmentally friendly fuel options to keep internal combustion engines alive .

Toyota’s position on electric power
Toyota has openly opposed the normalization of electric vehicles ( EVs ) around the world calling it an (unrealistic) target. Toyota’s chief scientist Gil Pratt recently told Reuters the company wanted diversification of power trains.

He said Toyota was not against any particular power train, but did not want to rule out electric cars
Experts in the car industry believe that Toyota’s efforts to advance in the EV market seem insufficient Toyota still adheres to soon to be abandoned technology.
